Foz do Iguacu, Parana, Brasil..As Cataratas do Iguacu (espanhol: Cataratas del Iguazu) sao uma reuniao de quedas no Rio Iguacu (Bacia do Parana), localizam-se dentro do Parque Nacional do Iguacu no Brasil e no Parque Nacional Iguazu na Argentina que, somados, correspondem a 250 mil hectares de floresta protegida. Os parques tanto brasileiro como argentino passaram a ser considerados Patrimonio da Humanidade em 1984 e 1986, respectivamente. Historicamente, as Cataratas do Iguacu foram descobertas em 1542 por Dom Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca. O nome Iguacu vem das palavras da língua guarani y (agua) e guacu (grande)./ Iguazu Falls (Spanish: Cataratas del Iguazu are waterfalls of the Iguazu River located on the border of the Brazilian state of Parana (in the Southern Region) and the Argentine province of Misiones. The Falls are shared by the Iguazu National Park (Argentina) and Iguacu National Park (Brazil). These parks were designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1984 and 1986 respectively.
