A vegetacao da caatinga eh adaptada as condicoes de aridez (xerofila). Atualmente ha registradas cerca de 1000 especies, estimando-se que haja um total de 2000 a 3000 plantas. / Bromelia laciniosa natively known as macambira, is part of the bromeliad plant family. Caatinga is a type of vegetation, and an ecoregion characterized by this vegetation in the northeastern part of Brazil.
