Ocorre exclusivamente na Mata Atlantica brasileira, no estado do Rio de Janeiro, mas alguns autores ja consideraram sua ocorrencia no sul do Espirito Santo. Exemplar fotografado no Parque Ecologico Mico-Leao-Dourado, da Associacao Mico-Leao-Dourado (AMLD), em Silva Jardim, RJ. = The golden lion tamarin (Leontopithecus rosalia), also known as the golden marmoset, is a small New World monkey of the family Callitrichidae.
