Assim passariam a pertencer a Espanha (Reino de Castela e Aragao) todas as terras e ilhas situadas ao Norte da linha meridional, a 370 leguas a Oeste de Arquipelago de Cabo Verde, e as terras fora dessa determinacao pertenceriam a Portugal. A linha do meridiano passa em Belem do Para ao Norte, e Laguna ao Sul. Sendo assim, no centro de Laguna foi construido um monumento ao Tratado./Monument built to commemorate the Treaty of Tordesillas, signed between Portugal and Spain on June 7, 1494. So they would belong to Spain (Kingdom of Castile and Aragon) all lands and islands situated north of the southern line, 370 leagues west of Cape Verde Archipelago, and the land outside this determination would belong to Portugal. The meridian line passes in Belem in the North and the South Laguna Thus, in the center of Laguna was built a monument to the Treaty.
